4 April 2013 was the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, and the event was marked in Libya’s capital by boy and girl scouts who marched on a seaside street carrying signs warning of the dangers of these explosives. The event was marked in cooperation between the Ministry of Education, the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), the United Nations Development Programme as well as international and local non-government organizations.
