Mine Action Update: oPt (Jan 2025)

On 29 January 2025, Luke Irving, Chief of the Mine Action Programme in the occupied Palestinian territories (oPt), provided a detailed briefing on the growing threat of explosive ordnance in Gaza. The presence of unexploded devices continues to endanger civilians and hinder humanitarian relief efforts.

During his remarks, Irving highlighted the extensive contamination of Gaza with explosive remnants of war, which has led to tragic civilian casualties and obstructed the safe delivery of aid.
