DRC: Journalists and NGOs Trained on Landmines and ERW

In anticipation of International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, UNMAS in DRC held a training session on March 28, 2018 for journalists and members of national NGOs to raise awareness of the risks of landmines and explosive remnants of war (ERW).

Mine action is a very important field. Unfortunately, it is little known, especially in urban areas such as Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It also remains a very technical domain using terminologies that are not commonly known. The purpose of this training was also to explain and decipher the various terms used in mine action and to allow participants to become familiar with this area, allowing them to sensitize their own communities.
